Friday Afternoon Video: Hip Hop Battle - Watson & Crick vs Franklin

7th graders from Oakland can flow...

As somebody who must deal with the cognitive dissonance of loving both science and hip hop, the idea that there are middle and high school students across the country who share my loves/affliction is fantastically exciting. Science Genius Rap B.A.T.T.L.E.S. is a competition that seeks to bring these students together to see who can come up with the best songs and videos that combine science and hip hop. This is probably the most entertaining video, focusing on the race to solve the structure of DNA. I always feel like Linus Pauling gets the short end of the stick in these conversations. Oh well, I guess he'll just have his two Nobel Prizes to keep him company.


As good as that was, musically they can't hang with Harlem's Jabari Johnson, who spits over a great Lupe beat in "Quest for Joulery" - covering kinetic energy. Lyrics here.
