Baylor junior forward Rico Gathers was named to the Naismith Trophy's Midseason 30, recognizing the top players in the country for men's college basketball. The Naismith Trophy is college hoops' version of the Heisman so even being mentioned is an extremely high honor. Rico has been unbelievable on the glass for Baylor in conference, averaging 13.5 rebounds in Big 12 games to go along with 11.2 points per game. Gathers is the first Baylor player named to the Midseason 30 since Perry Jones in 2012, and was one of five Big 12 players in this year's group along with Buddy Hield (OU), LeBryan Nash (OSU), Georges Niang (ISU) and Juwan Staten (WVU). Sic 'Em Rico!
3 Bears made the cut in Riley Daniel, Blake Lynch, and Jordan Williams. The bit about Williams was particularly intriguing. Also, I would bet money that the snippet about John Humphrey, Jr. came from a Baylor coach.

Check out the full article for some good Briles quotes. Good stuff.
That's the second time in the last three weeks that Rico got his due.
If you click the link in the tweet, you'll see that Baylor's got the #2 offense and #25 defense, according to the Preseason FPI ratings.
(h/t to BearyPunny for seeing this). He's from Aurora, Illinois, and you can view his HUDL film here.

Hit the link for the full report, but Bowlsby still likes the idea, because it's all warm and fuzzy like a blanket that helps him feel better after a pretty rough day.
We could see an announcement on the league's policies as early as next week.
However, he says if we can find some offense we could surprise some folks.
