Honestly, I'm torn about how to start this DBR, my first in quite a long while. One the one hand, it seems insane not to mention the auspiciousness of today's date, which will live forever in the annals of American and world history as a truly transformational event. On the other, I'm not interested in cheap pageviews by preying on the memory of that day or in detracting from the experiences of those who had their lives changed forever in horrific fashion. Also, this is a blog about Baylor Athletics ...
Let me just say this: I was a junior in high school in September 2001, which I can't believe is now fourteen years past, and I remember that day like it was yesterday. It's not often you witness first-hand an event that ends up affecting virtually everyone on the planet.
If you don't remember, or you just want to relive the events through the incredible perspective of someone who was literally standing next to President Bush through most of the day, you should follow @AriFleischer today. He is the former White House Press Secretary under President Bush. If you don't like his politics or don't want to follow him forever, that's fine. You don't have to. For 364 days of the year, I don't (not for political reasons, though). But for today, I do.
Also, this:
6 weeks after 9/11 attacks, George W. Bush threw 1st pitch at Yankee Stadium. It meant more than "play ball." http://t.co/0Bz5Dg1FiX
