Hey y'all. Sorry for the inconsistency of the report this week. I'm traveling in Italy, where reliable internet is somewhat hard to come by, especially a signal strong and consistent enough to knock out a blog post. Today I'm in Florence and ended up spending part of the afternoon with a pack of Gonzaga students.
"Tough loss you guys had this year," one guy told me. "I was rooting for you."
"Yeah, I'm gonna have nightmares about Michigan State for a long time."
"Oh, I was talking about Georgia State."
Even in Italy, you cannot escape the shame.
Softball Knocks Off Texas State
Shelby Friudenberg (a strong Germanic name if I ever heard one) is Baylor's newest softball prodigy. She homered twice and batted in three runs in a 6-1 win at Texas State that was punctuated by three consecutive Baylor home runs in the sixth. Friudenberg finished 3-for-3 and hit her ninth and tenth home runs of the season, and Heather Stearns improved to 13-5 from the circle.

In a worthy free sample of NCAA Nationals, Baylor will attempt to beat Oklahoma for the first time this season in three events. The Sooners are undisputed as the top team in the nation, but an upset could change all that and throw off the current balance of power in the Big 12. Sune Agbuke Invited to Big 12 National Forum
The third annual Big 12 National Forum to discuss issues surrounding college athletics will be held Monday, April 20 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Baylor WBB's Sune Agbuke, currently a law student, was one of only four students selected as part of a panel that will discuss how reforms in college athletics affect the future of student athletes who are not going pro in their chosen sport. There aren't many candidates more deserving than Agbuke, who epitomizes the oft-corrupted and maligned image of the student athlete that the NCAA puts forth.

The Daily Bear
I don't often inject my daily life into the Daily Bears Report, but I had my mind melted this morning/afternoon by Florence, Italy. Since I am, in fact, a bear, I've elected to completely cop out of my daily internet search for a funny bear and include a picture of myself with the sun in my eyes.
