Monday DBR: A Good Weekend

We're sad the Lady Bears lost, but we have a lot of victories to celebrate.

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Baseball Takes Series vs. OU

They were smacked in the mouth in the third game of the series, but Baylor still managed to get two out of three against the Sooners, who are skirting the top 25. This is the second series win in conference play after taking two against West Virginia last weekend.Thing are looking up? At this point one of the biggest issues seems to be that the bullpen isn't quite deep enough to complete a sweep.

Equestrian Wins Big 12 Championship

Another glass bowl is headed to Waco after Baylor knocked off TCU and semis and KSU in the finals. It was the third win of the season over TCU and a nice bit of revenge on K-State, who helped spoil Baylor's perfect season a few weeks ago. It's Baylor's first Big 12 championship in the sport since 2010. Congrats, ladies!

Men's Tennis Records Pair of Sunday Shutouts

Incarnate Word and UT-Arlington never stood a chance as No. 2 Baylor steamrolled them both 7-0 without dropping a single set.

Women's Tennis Beats West Virginia, Iowa State

Baylor women's tennis remained perfect in conference play after holding on to beat West Virginia on Friday and putting it to Iowa State on Sunday. The Cyclones are 0-20 against Baylor in the sport. Baylor is now 5-0 in conference play and a conference championship seems inevitable.

Softball Wins Series vs. Oklahoma State

Softball opened Big 12 play over the weekend and it went pretty well. Two wins and an unfortunate loss to the Cowgirls later, they have their first conference series win of the season. Nine more to go.

It's troubling that the offense stagnated in the game 3, but the low score indicates strong pitching, which is never a bad thing to have after two closely contested games.

A&T Remains Undefeated

Acrobatics & Tumbling finished off Azusa Pacific to remain perfect on the season. Felicia Mulkey has been amazing for the program and instigated a complete turnaround for the team in less than a year. Let's get a national championship.

What an interesting sport.

Trayvon Bromell Wins 100m at Texas Relays

Trayvon Bromell was flying, recording a wind-aided 9.90 as he went mostly unchallenged for the entire weekend. If he can record the same time without wind somewhere down the line, he'll break his own junior world record. The Olympics are waiting, Mr. Bromell.

Tiffani McReynolds also won the 100m hurdles, and Cion Hicks won the discus after beating her personal best by almost ten feet.

Women's Golf Beats No. 3 South Carolina, No. 4 UCLA

The weekend also included a disappointing loss to No. 5 Duke, but was still an overall success for the program. It was a good weekend in Athens.

The Daily Bear

Props to you, Tennis Bear. Don't let anyone tell you what you're incapable of.
