Wednesday Daily Bears Report

Basketball results, tennis previews, and a new commit?

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Lady Bears Roll TCU

It was close for a while, but like almost every game this year, the Lady Bears pulled away in the second half for a 20+ point victory. You've all read this story before.

Anyway, the team is 19-1 and a clumsy second half against Kentucky away from being undefeated. Could be a fun postseason if you're even remotely interested in women's basketball.

MBB Offensively Stagnant, Falls to OSU

Life on the road in the Big 12 is tough, and life in Stillwater is even tougher when you're a visiting team. Despite good defense, Baylor couldn't hit anything and OSU's shots began falling in the second half. Kenny Chery, Jonathan Motley, and Royce O'Neale were a combined 4-of-24 shooting, and that includes a late Chery layup that the Pokes willingly allowed. It was terrible basketball, and heroics from Lester Medford weren't enough to get the win. Kenny Chery's magic needs to reappear.

Next game is at home versus Texas this Saturday at 5 p.m. on ESPN2. Texas has swooned a bit in conference play, but is still a very good basketball team that almost vanquished Iowa State on Monday night.

Hunt plays for Arp, a 3A school in East Texas. Much like Troupe, it's known for its football program's success in the smaller divisions. Hunt is an intriguing prospect; he's highly productive at this level of competition, but we have no way to telling how it will transfer to the next level, especially as a defensive player. 247 gives Hunt a two star rating. We'll have more information if he follows through and commits on his visit.

Men's Tennis vs. Louisiana-Lafayette Tomorrow

Baylor continues its dual-match season Thursday against Louisiana-Lafayette. No. 6 Baylor and No. 73 ULaLa play tomorrow at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco. Louisiana-Lafayette is ranked below both of Baylor's shutout victims from this past weekend, so we should hear news of a Bears win, but tennis is another one of those sports where weird results are almost expected.
