Tuesday DBR: That Weird Halfway Point

We're halfway through college football's regular season, which can only mean one thing: tons of odd midseason awards.

Tom Pennington

Football Midseason Honors

The list is light on Baylor, which is perfectly understandable since half of Baylor's stars have barely played this season. Trotter's list indicates just how talented the conference is at this point - and I expect Baylor players like Bryce Petty, Antwan Goodley, Andrew Billings, and Xavien Howard to claim places by the end of the year.

We assumed going into the season that KD Cannon was a dark horse candidate for Big 12 Freshman of the Year. We had no idea that he'd be in the running for a place on an All-American team.

Petty won the Earl Campbell Award last year, given to the most outstanding college football player native to the state of Texas.

Petty's huge day and ability to bounce back from a devastating turnover earned him this week's Davey O'Brien honors. Petty is a short list candidate for the annual quarterbacking award.

Around Baylor

Baylor Volleyball plays Louisiana Lafayette tonight at 7 p.m. in the Ferrell Center.

Baylor Soccer's friday match at Oklahoma has been rescheduled for this Sunday at 7 p.m.

New Nike Basketball Uniforms Released

Do I miss the highlighters? Yes. Do I love the new Nike designs and think they'll be better for the program in the long run? Definitely. If Baylor can keep up their recent success, they should eventually earn more attention from the uniform giant.
