7.31.2013 Daily Bears Report: The Last Month Without Football, A Proposal to Baylor Fans

Did you realize that today is the last day of the last month without football? It's true. We play Wofford exactly one month from today.

USA TODAY Sports

Ok, before I go any further, I want to make a proposal to the community with something I've been thinking about, to gauge interest in doing it. Over on LoneStarBall.com, the SB Nation community for the Texas Rangers, one of the contributors runs something I'd like to replicate here. Every spring, before the season begins, community members predict the stats for each rotation member and major position player on the team. The contributor (his name is Brad) then compiles the predictions. Whoever is closest at the end of the season to what actually happened, wins.

I'd like to do that here with Baylor's major offensive and defensive players. It won't be as extensive, since there aren't going to be that many. If people want to do it (and I have put a poll below), I'll start posting the players next week, one per day. I'm thinking we'll take predictions on these players:

Offense:
QB Bryce Petty
RB Lache Seastrunk
RB Glasco Martin
WR Tevin Reese
WR Jay Lee
WR Clay Fuller
WR Levi Norwood
TE Jordan Najvar

Defense:
DE Chris McAllister
DE Terrance Lloyd
DE Shawn Oakman
DT Javonte Magee
LB Bryce Hager
LB Eddie Lackey
LB Sam Holl
S Ahmad Dixon
CB K.J. Morton
CB Joe Williams

That's 18 players, so if we start next week, we can finish before August 31, when all the threads will lock. I'll take suggestions in the comments for other players we might do, as well.

Does this sound like something you want to do? Vote in the poll or tell me in the comments. I don't want to do the legwork if people won't participate.

OH, I FORGOT TO MENTION, WHOEVER WINS GETS FREE, AS-YET-UNDETERMINED BAYLOR SWAG FROM THE BOOKSTORE THAT I WILL BUY MYSELF AND MAIL TO YOU, THE WINNER.

NEWS

BAYLOR'S BEST-CASE IS 10-2, ACCORDING TO UBBEN -- I happen to disagree, respectfully. I believe our "best-case scenario" is running roughshod over the entire country, with the sound of our band being drown out only by the lamentations of opposing crowds, begging for us for mercy. But to each his own.

BILL C HAS A STUDY HALL BOOK -- It's about CFB, so you already love it.

BRILES SPEAKS FORSOOTH ON TERRENCE WILLIAMS -- This kind of thing is great press for us, since the more credibility our program gets for actually turning out NFL-caliber talent, the more NFL teams will want to draft that talent.

LACHE SEASTRUNK NOT BACKING DOWN FROM HEISMAN TALK -- Nor should he.

BIG 12 RECRUITING SCORECARD, JULY -- Baylor is still sitting in second place with 21 commits as July comes to a close. I'll be posting the July Recruiting Review today, as well.

BRILES LOVES AMERICA -- And America loves you, too. Rock, flag, and eagle, baby!!!

OREGON JUST DESTROYED THE FACILITIES GAME -- Wow.

CYRIL RICHARDSON ONE OF THE 5 MOST PHYSICAL PLAYERS IN CFB -- This is from NFL.com, masters of the obvious.

Vote in the poll!
