Both Baylor tennis team won Big 12 titles this weekend, with 15th-ranked men's tennis' win 5-2 win over TCU and no. 28 women's tennis upset victory over no. 15 Texas Tech. The victory on Sunday gives the Baylor men their 11th regular season title, and their ninth straight win going into the conference tournament. The Bears also went undefeated in conference play for the ninth time in school history. The Lady Bears won their 9th regular season title in the last 11 years with their win over co-champions Texas Tech on Sunday, and will be the no. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Both teams will travel to Norman, Oklahoma this weekend for the league championship.
Freshman Lauren Taylor walked away with the Big 12 women's golf individual title this weekend, and the Baylor women's golf team finished second, their best in program history. Taylor shot a 3-under-par 213 for the win, and was 8 strokes over the next place finisher. Sophomore Hayley Davis also finished in the top 5, placing fourth with a +8 224.
Baylor Track and Field won 11 events at the Michael Johnson Classic, hosted here at Baylor this weekend. Skylar White won both the discus and the shot put titles for the second straight meet, and Erin Atkinson won her fourth hammer-throw of the year. Baylor women's relay won both the 4x100 and the 4x400 for the first time this season, while the men's quarter-mile relay also won. Baylor will host the Big 12 Championships in two weeks at the Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex.
Baylor Baseball finds itself back at .500 after dropping their first Big 12 series to TCU this weekend, losing Sunday's rubber match 5-4. All three games were decided by one run. Baylor is the last team in the Big 12 to lose a conference series, and will face DBU out of conference in the midweek game tomorrow before taking on Texas here in Waco this weekend.
Baylor Equestrian's top-seeded Hunter Seat squad fell to no. 4 Auburn in the semifinals of the NCEA National Championships this weekend, unable to make up a 2 point deficit.
