The Baylor Bears take on BYU tonight in Madison Square Garden looking to advance to the finals of the NIT. Both the Bears and the Cougars play an uptempo style, and though the tournament averages favor Baylor, this could be quite the interesting game to watch. Baylor beat BYU 79-64 in Waco, earlier this season, and will look to even the series record at 5-5. Tonight's game will be broadcast on ESPN 2 at 6:00 PM CT.
Any repercussions against Baylor Lady Bears head coach Kim Mulkey could be months in the making, as the NCAA will have to meet and decide any potential ramifications for her comments after the game against Louisville. Mulkey made it clear in the press conference that she would take any fines leveraged against her, and "dared" the press to ask her about the officiating.
Baylor Baseball fought back and took their first series against Kansas State last weekend, and looks to continue the winning streak in a midweek game against DBU tonight. Freshman LHP Sterling Wynn is the projected starter, and the offense will try to get the rookie his first win against a 16-13 DBU team. Junior outfielder Grayson Porter earned the Big 12 Player of the Week honor last week after his breakout week, hitting .375 with 2 home runs and a double. This was his first time for the award, and Baylor's third weekly honor.
16th-ranked Baylor Softball swept Iowa State last weekend, coming back from a four-run deficit to defeat the Cyclones 7-5 on Saturday afternoon. Heather Stearns pitched 4.1 perfect innings with 8 strikeouts, and the Baylor offense worked at the ISU lead, with Lindsey Hays delivering a bases-loaded single to start the comeback. The Lady Bears return to action on April 5th in Norman, OK, where they will face conference opponent OU.
Baylor Men's Tennis was picked as the Big 12 runner-up by the league's coaches. The Bears are currently ranked 22nd in the nation, and have won their last four matches to hold a 14-4 season mark before the start of league play. OU was picked to repeat as league champion, and the Sooners also won the conference tournament last year. Baylor starts Big 12 play at Texas Tech on April 7th.
