Enjoy some pie, everyone!
Today begins the Big 12 Tournament for Baylor MBB, as they take on the OSU Cowboys at 8:30 PM in Kansas City. The Bears must win this game if they want any chance of being invited to the NCAA Tournament, including the "play-in" game in Dayton, Ohio. Baylor's biggest problem in the regular season was inconsistency, and related issues that come from replacing 3 starters and 2 other seniors. The Bears split the regular season series with OSU, winning by 10 in the Ferrell Center and losing by 2 in overtime against the Cowboys in Oklahoma. Scott Drew hopes to be able to cheer for himself, as well as his brother, though he's proud of Bryce Drew for getting Valporaiso to the NCAA tournament by winning the Horizon League.
No. 15 Baylor Softball fell 3-0 to no. 4 Cal yesterday, bringing their record against ranked teams to 1-1. Whitney Canion took her third loss of the season despite only allowing 5 hits across 6 innings. Senior Kathy Shelton had two of Baylor's three hits, though none of the runners came across to score. The Lady Bears play Utah at 7:00 PM CT (2:00 PM H-A TZ) followed immediately by Syracuse.
Baylor Track and Field opens their outdoor season at the TCU invitational following their All-American showing at the NCAA National Indoor Championship. Six Baylor athletes garnered All-American honors following the championships, including Tiffani McReynolds, who finished second overall in the 60-meter hurdles. After competing in Fort Worth, Baylor will host an outdoor meet on March 22nd.
