Baylor Football's head coach Art Briles joined Twitter yesterday, and today rocked the tweeting world by including the term "stanky leg" in his tweet about the Bears finishing winter conditioning. You can find the coach at @CoachArtBriles, and yes, this is actually his account, verified by Baylor Football. Oh, and the person he followed first? Highly-rated 2014 WR KD Cannon.
The top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears rolled over Oklahoma last night, 86-64, and Brittney Griner scored yet another double-double with 15 points and a tied season-high 15 rebounds. Her 15 points moved her past former UConn star Maya Moore into 4th on the all-time NCAA scoring list. Freshman Alexis Prince had 12 points, including 8 in the last 4 minutes of the first half to keep the Lady Bears ahead by a distance.
Samson Equipment named Baylor's Kaz Kazadi the Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year at the FBS level, as the magazine American Football Monthly announced recently. Kazadi was hired by Art Briles in 2008 and in his time at Baylor has created one of the best conditioned teams in the country. Since his arrival, Baylor has had 12 players selected in the NFL Draft and has gone to three consecutive bowl games.
Baylor Baseball plays no. 29 Pepperdine tonight at the Baylor Ballpark at 6:35 PM, hoping to bring some of the play shown in the series against UCLA to the front. LHP Sterling Wynn is projected to start tonight's game. This is the first meeting between the two teams.
Baylor Women's Golf is still in seventh place at the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship after high winds and hail caused the cancellation of yesterday's second round. Play resumed this morning with the five members of the team starting in a "shotgun start" across the 7th, 8th, and 9th holes.
