2.23.2013 Weekend Update with MCM

It's a busy day in Baylor Athletics with one game already underway-- the Lady Bears are doubling up Texas at halftime 32-16-- and another later today at 4:00 as our men take on the Oklahoma Sooners. There's also the second game of the UCLA series for the baseball team, which ... isn't doing as well as they'd probably hoped so far.

USA TODAY Sports

First, the Lady Bears. Like I said, this game already started and they are dominating (SHOCKER!).

Big 12 Champion WBB Hosts Texas - Baylor Bears Official Athletic Site - BaylorBears.com
The 2013 Big 12 champions and top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears (25-1), seek to extend their record-setting 36-game Big 12 regular season win streak when they host Texas on Saturday.

Next we have the men, who will try to keep their rapidly-diminishing chances of a NCAA Tournament bid alive today against the Sooners, who will be doing the same thing except replace "rapidly-diminishing" with "probably decent." That sounds weird.

There's a pretty cool video on that link if you want to check it out. Isaiah Austin talks about what the team is going through right now.

Finally, despite having numerous opportunities to come back last night, the baseball team was unable to do so in the first game of the weekend set against the UCLA Bruins.

No. 23 Baylor's Comeback Falls Short Versus No. 2 UCLA - Baylor Bears Official Athletic Site - BaylorBears.com
No. 23 Baylor had many scoring chances against No. 2 UCLA, including a bases-loaded ninth inning, but the Bears (1-4) just couldn't get the big hit to push past the Bruins (3-1) in Friday night's series opener at Baylor Ballpark.

Their game today is at 3:05 in Waco, and you should go if you get the chance.

Former Baylor RB making quick sandwiches
Like a lot of NFL players, former Baylor running back Terrance Ganaway is working on improving his speed this offseason. Not at running the 40. At making sandwiches.

Great story. Ganaway is getting a ton of good press for this, and I think it shows the work ethic that made him an NFL draft pick in the first place.

With his 7-1 frame and superb shooting and ballhandling skills, Isaiah Austin sometimes looks like a cross between Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Chris Paul.
