I hate to tell you this, but the 2013 Baylor Bears baseball team is not going undefeated this season. Huge bummer, I know. They lost last night in the first game of the season to #30 UCI. The big bugaboo occurred in the third inning when UCI pushed three runs across, and Baylor was unable to close the gap in the time allotted. Blame the rules of the game for only giving us nine innings to play or the dastardly villains of UCI for scoring so callously. Or don't, it's really your choice.

As you can see, this game apparently won't be on TV anywhere, probably as a result of MBB action going on across the country today. More's the pity. The Lady Bears are absolutely dominating everything in Big 12 play and have rarely been challenged in earnest, much as I imagine a shark riding an elephant would be as it trampled and ate everything in its path. They can clinch at worst a share of the Big 12 title today by beating TCU.

MBB also takes the floor tonight, albeit in entirely different circumstances. Kansas State is a heavy favorite in this game and for good reason; they are the highest-ranked team in the Big 12 at the moment following Kansas' three-loss spin and we get them in Manhattan. Winning this game would go a long way to ensuring that Baylor makes the Tournament this season, but the goal should be 20 wins total, if not more, the rest of the way.

Two star point guards will go toe-to-toe on Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum when Kansas State plays host to Baylor: The Wildcats' Angel Rodriguez, a 5-foot-11 sophomore who sports the Big 12’s best assists-to-turnover ratio, and the Bears' Pierre Jackson, a 5-foot-10 senior who leads the Big 12 in both scoring (18.9 points) and assists (6.17).
And... that's about it for now.
