12.18.2013 Daily Bears Report

Students, if you have rental textbooks, they're due today.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Baylor had five member of its football team recognized on the AP, and All-America teams, with representatives appearing on both sides of the ball. Cyril Richardson was named a first-team AP All-American, as well as the SI and CBS teams, and Ahmad Dixon was recognized as a second-team AP and CBS team member. Quarterback Bryce Petty, punter Spencer Roth, and receiver Antwan Goodley picked up honorable mentions from several publications, and Goodley was a CBS second-teamer.

Baylor basketball has a doubleheader today, with the Lady Bears looking to avenge their SEC loss with a win over Ole Miss and the men hoping to recapture the energy from beating Kentucky 12 days ago. The 9th-ranked Lady Bears will tip off at 6:00 p.m. tonight against the Rebels, who come to Waco with an 8-4 record. The 12th-ranked "Man Bears" will follow their game with an approximate tip off of 8:30 p.m. in the Ferrell Center against Northwestern State. Both these games will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest Plus.

Because it has to be said again: Art Briles will not be coaching the team in Washington, and probably not even if it were Washington on the Brazos, no matter what parental influence is assumed.

Finally, the good folks over at Nunes/Magician have raised $36,277 and counting to send Houston-area kids to the Texas Bowl. That's at least 1,200 kids. Do stop by there, if you can.

Finally, finally, though this is apropos of nothing, I give you the greatest rant in sports history.
