The game against Oklahoma State could be one of Baylor's biggest road games in school history, and the marquee matchup the Big 12 had been missing until now. Just a few years ago, to even imagine this season would have been foolish for Baylor and fellow BCS basement-dweller Duke, but with two turn-around coaches and the right resources, both teams are near the top.
If the Bears are to stay there, and if they want to turn a good season into a great one, they have to do what no Baylor team has done in 74 years, and beat the Cowboys in Stillwater. Bryce Petty could add to his visibility with a great showing up north this weekend, but his numbers are already more stellar than he's given credit for. The offense showed last weekend that it can still work without its top three producers, but the defense cannot take Saturday's slow start to Stillwater.
Baylor basketball managed to outscore the football team, defeating Louisiana-Lafayette 87-68 yesterday behind the Canadian guard duo of Kenny Chery and Brady Heslip. Chery scored 20 points and had four assists in 32 minutes in the opening round game of the Maui Invitational, while Heslip scored 19 despite being only 2-5 from behind the arc.
Baylor volleyball lost in three sets to Oklahoma on Saturday night, suffering eight service errors and 11 receiving errors.
