10.02.2013 Daily Bears Report, Early Edition

Our Daily Podcast Episode 8 records tonight! As always, we need your feedback and help in making the podcast as great as you deserve for it to be!

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

It really just needs to be Saturday night.

Baylor football is nearly unstoppable, and has the attitude and style to go along with the play, writes the Charleston Daily Mail's Mike Casazza. Art Briles, Robert Griffin III, and athletic director Ian McCaw are all partially responsible for the rise of Baylor football from what could arguably be called a grave, and Briles isn't done building the program. That strengthening includes the Baylor defense, which has allowed fewer points that it's scored heading into conference play.

Kansas and Duke don't have live bears, as Scott Drew showed elite 2014 recruits Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor on their visit to Waco, according to Jones' blog entry for USA Today High School Sports.

Volleyball will be on national TV tonight as the Bears take on No. 4 Texas at 8 p.m. in the Ferrell Center, broadcast on ESPNU. Baylor has not beaten Texas in 22 matches, and the defending national champion Longhorns have defeated their first two conference opponents in three sets each.

Men's tennis earned three wins yesterday in the ITA All-American Championships, with junior Mate Zsiga advancing to the third round of the qualifying draw, and both Tony Lupieri and Diego Galeano won their consolation draw matches. The doubles team of Julian Lenz and Lupieri dropped their second round match to Slim Hamza and Cedric Williams of Utah, 8-4.

Finally, the podcast is recording today, so send in your questions and comments!

Once again, the podcast needs your help! This week, Bill Connelly will join us as our extra-special tail-end-of-the-open-date guest. Bill’s the mastermind behind S&P+, one of the advanced stats that you see thrown about on this site quite often. He also runs the Mizzou SB Nation site as well as Football Study Hall. We need your excellent questions for this week’s show, as well as No Huddles for his portion! Don’t forget to let us know your ODB name in the email or voicemail.

Also, remember that while he’s going to have knowledge of Baylor football, he may not be the best person to ask about attendance, fan participation and that sort of thing. You don’t have to limit your questions to Baylor.

As always, email your questions to OurDailyPodcast (at) gmail (dot) com, and send those voicemails to (774) 25-SICEM (257-4236).

Thanks in advance!
