Well, I've got bad news in case you were hoping Baylor made it back into the BlogPoll Top 25 after the upheaval of this past week: we didn't. But don't be upset! We're right there on the edge at #27, and a ranking next week is easily within our grasp if we take care of business against TCU on Saturday. Should we do so, a matchup with the almost-certainly-ranked Texas Longhorns awaits. Barring an absolute catastrophe against OU this weekend, I don't see any way they fall out of the rankings completely. Not with the support they have on the BlogPoll, anyway.
Interestingly, this marks the sixth week in a row that Baylor has been represented somewhat in the BlogPoll, both on the Poll itself or in the receiving votes category. That's probably never happened before, right? I could probably check if I wanted to, but I'd rather just let that statement stand.
As for my thoughts on the Poll, I'd say straight away that any vote for a team other than Alabama or Oregon for first place is probably not a good vote. That includes South Carolina, fresh off their demolition of Georgia on Saturday afternoon, and the Big XII schools. No, House of Sparky, I don't think Kansas State is the best team in the land. Neither is Florida all ... nine??? of you that voted for the Gators. It's much more likely that LSU just simply isn't that good than Florida is suddenly better than Alabama or Oregon. I'm serious.
Whoever voted for Duke is out of their mind. Same for the blog that put UTSA on their ballot.
Check out the rest of the votes in the full results below and the blog stats in the story over on the mothership, then give me your thoughts in the comments. I want to hear them! As always, if you click that link I just posted you can also check out who voted for what school and how the ballots broke down completely.
