I don't know how many people were actually waiting for this with baited breath, but I was. As an indicator of how far along in the fundraising and construction process they actually are, a brick campaign is actually a pretty big deal. Baylor is offering four options for purchase:
- 4 x 8 brick - Standard brick with one to three lines of customized text - $175 each
- 8 x 8 brick - Square brick with up to six lines of customized text - $350 each
- 8 x 8 BU Logo brick - Square brick with interlocking BU logo and one to four lines of customized text - $500 each
- 8 x 8 South Plaza Premium Paver - Square brick with one to six lines of text. These premium bricks will form the interlocking BU design feature prominently located at the stadium. Premium bricks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Brick color pending architectural design. - $1,250 each
So I'm probably not going to be getting the last one together, but the first three sound like reasonable options. "But Mark," you ask, "why would anyone want to buy a brick?" For me, it would be cool to be a part of the building process for such an important venture on behalf of the University. Being able to go there and actually see a contribution, however small, means something to me. Especially if we could buy one a brick and dedicate it to my son William, who probably won't get the opportunity to see nearly as many games in the Stadium as I'd like.
