I won't belabor the point on this because I know so little about men's basketball recruiting, but the news broke a few minutes ago that Wendell Mitchell, who recently cut his list to SMU and Baylor pending visits to each of the two schools, decided to forgo those visits and commit to the Bears a little early. Wendell is a 6-2, 170-pound shooter from Rockdale, Texas with offers from the Bears, Mustangs, Auburn Tigers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Butler Bulldogs, among others. 247Sports has him ranked as the #178 player in their rankings, while their Composite has him at 153. He is ~88 in both, making him a high-3* by grade.
I'm having little trouble finding good, longer highlight videos on Youtube, though there are several you can view on his HUDL profile, which also lists a 36" vertical. I've embedded one below.
We haven't really talked much about basketball recruiting on the board for a couple of reasons, namely that I don't know a lot about that, specifically, or men's basketball, generally, and typically sound like a moron when I try to fake it. Also, most of the guys we really want are headed to College Station at this point, and that sucks. Still, our class now includes at least 4 guys, possibly 5. Those four are PG/SG King McClure, JUCO PF Joseph Acuil, PG/SG Jake Lindsey, and now Mitchell. If Kobie Eubanks finally makes it in, he could be #5. I just don't know if that's going to happen, and I mean that in the literal sense that I don't know, not that I don't think.
Watch Mitchell's highlights and let me know what you think. Basketball contributors, feel free to edit this post. Also, if Lamron wants to do his magic and provide everything you could ever want to know about Mitchell, that would be great, too.
(Lamron Edit: Your wish is my command see the comment section below!)
Welcome to Baylor, Wendell!
