Baylor triumphs over a Smart-less Oklahoma State 70-64 at home

The Bears found themselves on the other end of an unbelievable overtime-forcing 3 tonight but managed to pull away and win by 6.

We've seen an eerie pattern develop the last couple of games, despite the positive result.  Baylor starts out relatively slow against an undermanned squad missing its best player, falls behind at halftime by around a half-dozen points, trails by ten at some point in the second half, then comes back and wins in overtime (or double overtime, as it was against KSU).  I'm not sure what that says, but it ends in a win, so I'm ok.

That Baylor was able to accomplish that feat once again despite shooting under 40% from 2 and 3 can be attributed to one statistic: 22.  That's the number of offensive rebounds tonight for the Bears, just one fewer than the number of made shots.  It's also 10 more than Oklahoma State had.  The Bears missed 38 shots and rebounded the ball on 22 of them.  That's 58% (rounding up) of your missed shots ending in an offensive rebound.  On the whole, Baylor had 51 rebounds total in the game against Oklahoma State's 36.

With their third win in a row, Baylor now stands at 17-9 and 5-8 in the conference with a puncher's chance at the "magical" 20 win plateau.  A .500 record in conference play would be the best-case scenario, obviously, but with games at WVU, Texas and KSU down the stretch, it's probably not going to happen.  Our schedule:
