Baylor finishes 30th in the final USA Today Coaches' Poll

The 23 votes garnered by the Bears put them 30th in the country in the last Coaches' Poll of the 2012-2013 season, highest of any team that didn't make the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

The last USA Today Coaches' Poll of this season is out and your Baylor Bears are on the list in the "Others Receiving Votes" category. The Bears finished ahead of every Big 12 team not named Kansas (8), Kansas State (15), and Oklahoma State (27th in the Others Receiving Votes), including Iowa State and Oklahoma, both of whom made the Tournament.

I have a hard time arguing that Baylor should be ranked any higher than we are in this one given the entire body of work. If the ranking was simply trying to reflect how good each team is today, all else equal, we might belong a bit higher. I'd be really curious to see who would be favored in a game between Baylor and, say, Wisconsin on a neutral court. But that's not what these polls tend to do, and I think we should be happy with where things ended up. An NIT Championship and a top-30 ranking at the end of the season has to be about the best-case scenario for where we were after missing out on the Tournament.
