MBB/WBB Big XII Preseason Voting

Both Baylor basketball programs were honored by the conference's coaches in preseason polls released today. Baylor MBB was chosen to finish second behind only Kansas while the Lady Bears were the unanimous choice for first.

Nelson Chenault-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

I should have posted about the women's side of things yesterday and completely forgot until the men's preseason voting was posted today. Sorry, Ladies! I had no intention of denying you the kudos you deserve!

In case you missed it, the Baylor Lady Bears were the unanimous choice of Big XII coaches to win the conference this year in the preseason vote announced yesterday. I know what you're thinking-- that it can't be unanimous since one coach obviously voted for West Virginia. Actually, it can, since the rules prohibit voting for your own team, and that WVU vote comes from our own Kim Mulkey. So it's considered unanimous even though it isn't unanimous because of that rule. Get it?

Good, because the same thing obviously happened in the men's voting announced today, except Kansas was the unanimous winner there. Baylor finished second with Bill Self's first-place vote (since Self can't vote for his own team), with Oklahoma State just behind in third place and Texas in fourth. I wonder if the possible Myck Kabongo story might have an impact there...

According to BaylorBears.com, Scott Drew's program has been picked to finish in the top 4 of the league four out of the last five years, a fact that shows just how far we've come in the minds of many.

Just as a reminder, Moonlight Madness is TOMORROW NIGHT at 8:30 in the Ferrell Center. Admission is free, and you should absolutely go unless you don't like Baylor and/or basketball, in which case I don't understand why you're reading this post in the first place.
