No. 9/5 WBB Handles Iowa State, 70-54 - BaylorBears.com
Despite a controversial loss to West Virginia at the weekend, the Lady Bears took care of business and ended Iowa State, 70-54. Technically, by beating Kansas by seven (67-60), WVU earned themselves a share of the title. Still, your Lady Bears are the number one seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament and, in my opinion, Baylor would beat West Virginia 10 out of 10 times on a neutral court with competent referees.
National Player of the Year candidate Odyssey Sims had a season-low 11 points. Unfortunately, I could not watch the game, but it sounds like Sims was still nursing the injury she picked up on Saturday. What happens when one star has a down game? Another one steps up! Freshman of the Year candidate Nina Davis had 26 points, including an eight-point run to put the Lady Bears up 50-38. Niya Johnson had eight assists and Sune Agbuke had nine points and eleven rebounds.
Technicalities schmechnicalities, the Lady Bears are Big 12 Champions! Congratulations to Kim Mulkey and the Lady Bears on another fine regular season. Now, y'all go kick some butt in the tournaments!
