Louisiana DE Justin Harris commits to Baylor over LSU!

Baylor’s 2017 class may be done at 27 with the commitment of the 4* DE.

There was some consternation in the Baylor camp this morning as LSU finally and officially offered 4* DE Justin Harris from Gonzales, Louisiana, but it all turned out ok as Harris spurned the hometown Tigers to join Baylor’s 2017 class.

There has been some talk in recruiting circles that Harris may be a grade risk, so keep that in mind going forward, but I am confident enough in our coaching staff to think that they wouldn’t have spent the time on him if he wasn’t going to qualify. He also has numerous chances between now and August to get that taken care of.

Harris gives Baylor 27 commits in its 2017 class, joining BJ Thompson as NSD gets for Matt Rhule and his staff. If he qualifies, he has a chance to make an instant impact at defensive end for the Bears next season due to size and explosiveness alone.

This is a big commit for Baylor in a lot of ways, including beating the Tigers for a kid from their own backyard. #SicEm
