Baylor Football Recruiting: Recapping the Spring Offers (So Far)

A flurry of recent offers puts Baylor at 87 in this cycle according to 247Sports. Let's recap a few of the more recent ones.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

I'm going to divert from my normal routine in this post today by starting with Baylor's most recent offer and moving backwards, since we haven't done this in a while and I can't be sure where to stop until I get there.  I think it was some time in February.

All recruits are 2017 unless noted otherwise.

TE/DE Brock Martin -- UR -- OoloTgah, OK

This one happened tonight, while I was writing this post.

JUCO DE Phil Hoskins -- UR

As I said in the fanshot posted when he was offered, Hoskins would be a prototypical 3/4 DE for the Bears next season if they could reel him in. Right now, he holds offers from Nebraska, Houston, and Iowa State, among others.

WR Jalen Reagor -- 3/4* (Committed to Oklahoma)

Not sure what to make of this one since he's committed to Oklahoma, but it's probably Baylor looking around since Jhamon Ausbon decommitted.

2018 S Jordan Moore -- 4*

One of the top-rated safeties in the 2018 class.  Moore's Crystal Ball is 100% TCU as of this moment.

2018 DT Keondre Coburn -- 4* -- Houston, TX

Another 2018 guy from Houston Westfield. A top-100 recruit in that class.

S Caden Sterns -- 4* -- Cibolo, TX

A Baylor legacy according to Colt Barber of 247Sports, Sterns is the #5 safety in the 2017 class.  One wonders why we didn't offer him before ...

2018 LB Bumper Pool -- UR -- Allen, TX

Quite possibly my favorite recruit name of all time, bar none.  Bumper is a 2018 LB recruit for whom Baylor was the first offer.

JUCO DE Preston Hendry -- UR -- Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

Baylor has had some success with California JUCOs recently, and I wonder if that might not play a role here.

JUCO OL Badara Traore -- UR -- Cambridge, MA

Another year, another mammoth JUCO OT with a Baylor offer.  Traore's profile lists him at 6-8, 315 pounds.  He's at Nassau CC in New York, where we've been active the last few years.

JUCO OL Elliot Baker -- UR -- San Francisco, CA

Baylor must not be crazy about the OL ranks from the 2017 class given how many JUCOs we're after for that cycle.  Whether it means anything about our on-campus talent, I can't say for sure.  Typically, it does.

JUCO OL Ronald Rudd -- UR -- Fontana, CA

See? That's 3 JUCO OTs on this list alone.

OL Stephan Zabie -- 3/4* -- Austin, TX

Zabie is one of the fastest-rising OL in the class, holding offers from Baylor, A&M, and OU already with many more to come.

LB Amaud Willis-Dalton -- 3* -- Cypress, TX

Visited Baylor recently and earned himself an offer in so doing.  I bet the Bears would love to play him at NB.

2018 DT Calvin Avery -- 4* -- Dallas, TX

Baylor trying to make inroads to Bishop Dunne HS, apparently.  Be on the lookout for more 2018 offers as we get into the summer months.

2018 CB Anthony Cook -- 4* -- Houston, TX

I can't recall if Cook is a Baylor legacy or not. I don't think so. But he is 50/50 between Baylor and LSU on Crystal Ball (with a grand total of 2 votes in).

WR CeeDee Lamb -- 4* -- Richmond, TX (Oklahoma Commit)

Another Oklahoma WR commit that we offered after Ausbon decommitted.

WR Montrell Estell -- 3/4* -- Hooks, TX

Since I've done this in chronological order (albeit reverse chronological order), you see a hierarchy of sorts for WR offers after Ausbon's decommit, including the next guy ...

WR Omar Manning -- 3/4* -- Lancaster, TX

This could be one to watch, Crystal Ball notwithstanding. He was Baylor's first WR offer post-Ausbon.

2018 CB Verone McKinley III -- 4* -- Plano, TX

By the time it's all said and done, everybody will offer this kid.

RB Cam Akers -- 4/5* -- Clinton, MS

Virtually everybody already has offered this kid.  My guess is that it's a "the worst he can say is no, right?" type of offer.

CB Kobe Boyce -- 3* -- Lake Dallas, TX

Committed to Texas recently.

OG Netori Johnson -- 4* -- Ellenwood, GA

Baylor thought it had a pretty good shot at Johnson, who used to live in Texas, but he recently committed to Georgia.

RB Eno Benjamin -- 4* -- Wylie, TX

Baylor made the final two for the talented Wylie RB, but he committed to Iowa this week.

DE Bryan Jones -- 4* -- Baton Rouge, LA

PROBABLY going to end up at LSU, considering he's from there.  And awesome.

DE Isaiah Thomas -- 3* -- Tulsa, OK

Haven't heard much about this once since it happened.  I'll keep you guys posted.

I think that's it from March and April, and I promise I'll try to do a better job going forward so the posts aren't so long!
