2017 4* WR Jhamon Ausbon decommits from Baylor

Momentum for the 2017 class has subsided considerably with two consecutive high-profile decommits.

As much as I hate being the bearer of bad tidings...

That tweet, if you can't see it, is from now-former Baylor WR commit Jhamon Ausbon, one of the two Texas transplants that now plays for IMG Academy in Florida.  He announced his decommitment from Baylor's 2017 class just a day after visiting Texas A&M's practice (although the story was that he wanted to visit Baylor and couldn't because we weren't practicing).  This is the second-consecutive decommit for that class following 5* LB Baron Browning.

Ausbon's decommitment means the Bears are back down to 5 commitments in the 2017 class, off a high of 7 when Ausbon and Browning were both in the fold.  The momentum from this past summer/fall appears to have fallen off quite a bit with those two decommitments and the lack of any commits at the Junior Day or the Friday Night Lights scrimmage this spring.

I figured when Ausbon moved to Florida that it might be difficult to keep him in the class, particularly as SEC teams came calling, but I didn't expect this to come when it did.  Now the focus will be on whether the Bears can keep Kellen Mond, who is definitely the most important recruit in this class.  With Ausbon's decommitment, that might actually be an open question, so stay tuned.
