The final whistle of last night’s game marked the end of one era of Baylor Football under Art Briles and his progeny and the start of another under Matt Rhule. This morning, that latter era got a much-needed boost with its first commit, from Houston safety Trevon Lewis. Lewis announced his commitment on Twitter, becoming the answer to some insane Baylor-centric trivia question someday:

That tweet either followed just after or preceded a number of celebratory tweets from our new coaching staff, including Matt Rhule himself. A few of the funnier/more clever ones:

I’m thinking that photoshop game might need a little work, but I like it.
Lewis is considered a fast-rising member of the 2017 class, having been honored earlier this month as the Touchdown Club’s Defensive Player of the Year. At this time, he holds offers from Baylor and Utah, in addition to a couple of smaller schools, and is a 3* recruit.
It’s not often you get to double the size of your class in December, and some may think that a negative thing. As for me, since I’m a glass-half-full kinda guy, I like to think we’re setting up for the biggest closing month in recruiting history.
Welcome to the family, Trevon!
