Baylor's 2016 class took another step forward tonight with its first commit from the LB ranks and 12th overall. Just moments ago, Art Briles confirmed reports with the following tweet:
#469 #DreamBigDreamBaylor
— Coach Art Briles (@CoachArtBriles) June 24, 2015
Vital Statistics
Name: Deonte Williams
Position: LB
School: Prestonwood Christian Academy (Plano, TX)
Mascot: Lions
Height: 6-1
Weight: 218 lbs
Rankings: Composite: 86.56 (3*, #525 Nat'l, #36 OLB), 247: 87 (3*, #42 OLB)
Profiles: 247Sports, Rivals, Scout, ESPN
Offers: Baylor, Oklahoma, TCU, Missouri, Cal, Washington
Video: HUDL
His ranking aside, snagging Williams in this class represents a major coup for Baylor's coaching staff, specifically LB coach Jim Gush. Williams holds offers from more than a dozen BCS programs, including the Big 12's own Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech, and Kansas. He's Baylor's first commit at the LB position in this class after having lost out with Clifton Lewis, Erick Fowler, and a couple others who may actually be DEs.
