July was a month to remember with the explosion of our 2016 class and the 11th commit for 2016. August marks the beginning of the 2014 football season and the first chance any of us, recruits included, will have to see McLane Stadium in action.
247Sports' Crystal Ball:
Check back on these often; the predictions update every day.
2015 Recruiting Class -- National Rank: 37, Commits: 12
OFFENSE: QB (1/1), RB (1/2), WR (2/3), TE (0/0), OL (2/3)
DEFENSE: DT (0/1), DE (0/0), LB (0/2), NB (1/1), CB (2/3), S (2/2)
K/P: Drew Galitz
2015 Wish List:
(Percentages are drawn from 247Sports' Crystal Ball, not my own imagination.)
DT: Darrion Daniels (100% Baylor),
OLB: Malik Jefferson (58% A&M, 3% BU) | Anthony Wheeler (69% UT, 0% BU) | Cameron Townsend (100% UT, 0% BU)
CB: Holton Hill (69% UT, 6% BU) | Kris Boyd (48% A&M, 0% BU)
S: Kahlil Haughton (80% Baylor)
All of the players above hold Baylor offers and have indicated at least some interest in the Bears such that their inclusion is not simply the result of wishful thinking.
Players Removed (who did not commit to us): OT Deya Mhiesen (Oklahoma State), OT Madison Akamnonu (Texas Tech), OT Conner Dyer(Texas Tech), S PJ Locke (Oregon), DT/OT Du'Vonta Lampkin (Texas), WR Ryan Newsome (spot gone), DE James Lockhart (A&M), LB Richard Moore (spot gone, A&M), CB Marcus Lewis (Florida), OT Keaton Sutherland (A&M), CB P.J. Mbanasor (Iklahoma), LB Ricky DeBerry (Baylor out), RB Chris Warren (Baylor backed off), QB Jarrett Stidham (Texas Tech), S Larry Pryor (A&M).
2016 Recruiting Class -- National Rank: 2, Commits: 6
OFFENSE: QB (1/?), RB (1/?), WR (1/?), OL (1/?)
DEFENSE: CB (1/?)
2016 Wish List:
This will be basically a shot in the dark based off our 2016 offer list. Some of them are more obvious than others based on who we've had in town and how many times we've heard their names. I think we can assume that we'll be at 85 scholarships again with the 2015 class. We have 17 juniors (by their classification now) graduating in 2016. I think we're safe projecting a class of around 20, maybe more, on that basis.
This is by far the earliest I've ever tried to put together a Wish List, and before you tell me that the vast majority of these guys are 5*s we won't get, I know that. There will be a ton of movement on this list since I'm starting so early.
Baylor brought in a huge number of elite recruits yesterday, and we probably only know a handful of them based off twitter and other things. There are lists out there from BearsTruth and BearsIllustrated, but even those probably aren't complete.
I believe that all of Baylor's 2015 and 2016 commits made it in for the game, so keep those in mind in addition to the players listed below.
RB Soso Jamabo (9/29): Will visit Baylor officially. A&M's 247Sports site claims that the Aggies lead.
LB Breckyn Hager (9/24): Flipped to Texas after their offer a few days ago.
ATH Tony Nicholson (9/21): Committed.
LB Anthony Wheeler (9/18): Going to take an official visit to Baylor.
WR Damarkus Lodge (9/18): Decommitted from A&M today. Baylor is in his new top 3 with OU and TCU, reportedly.
OU got a commitment from a 2015 safety today. Could help with Kahlil Haughton.
LB Breckyn Hager (9/13): Reporting a UT offer this weekend.
.@Baylor247 reporting that UT offered Baylor LB commit Breckyn Hager. So expect his rankings to go up considerably.— OurDailyBears (@OurDailyBears) September 14, 2014
ATH Blake Lynch (9/13): Probably the most underrated player in the state, even as a 4*.
Baylor pledge @BlakeLynch7 had 11 carries, 95 yards, 3 TDs and 4 catches, 115 yards, 2 TDs tonight for Gilmer.— Brandon Ogden (@BrandonOSports) September 13, 2014
CB Holton Hill (9/11): Released a top 8. Baylor made it.
OT Deya Mhiesen (9/7): Committed to Oklahoma State today.
RB Soso Jamabo (9/5): Went crazy tonight for 484 yards on 31 carries with 6 TDs. Also eliminated OU from his list.
ATH Tony Nicholson (9/2): Bit of a blast from the past, decommitted from Arizona State this morning. Was in attendance for the SMU game Saturday, which may or may not have contributed to his decision. Baylor likes him at CB, something we definitely still want in this class.
LB Malik Jefferson (9/1): Attended Baylor's game yesterday after canceling on UT the day before for family reasons.
RB Ronald Jones (9/1): Reportedly made it in yesterday.
CB Holton Hill (9/1): Made it in yesterday.
RB Soso Jamabo (9/1): Reportedly DID NOT make it in yesterday.
OT J.P. Urquidez (9/13):
DE Isaiah Chambers (9/1): Reportedly visited yesterday.
S Deontay Anderson (9/1): I think he was there, but I'm not positive.
DT Michael Williams (9/1): Visited yesterday. Enjoyed it.
