Baylor Football Commits Recap - 10/25

Depressed because it's Monday? Don't be. We get Kansas this weekend and brought in another commit this weekend!

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

NEWS:

A) Montrel Wilson reopened his recruitment.

B) We have a new Baylor football commit!

2015 COMMIT RESULTS:

QB/WR Chad President (6-3, 195) - Temple HS

Quick note on The Prez: He is not the president of the country Chad, as far as we know. Which significantly disappoints me.

That would be freakin' awesome.

Well, anyway, His Highness Sir President of Chad's Temple Wildcats beat Waco 49-40. He threw for 3 scores in the shootout. However, there is some bad news. Chad took an injury to the same knee which suffered an ACL tear in 2013. I haven't heard a ton of news post-game but I'll keep everyone updated. I do not believe, from what I HAVE heard, that it's a serious injury.

ATH Blake Lynch (6-3, 195) - Gilmer HS

Gilmer crushed Bullard 49-7. Blake took the ball for 125 yards and a score on 4 carries. He also caught a nine-yard pass, if it's worth anything. Get used to hearing this guy's name, Baylor folk. He's an all-around athlete, and wherever he plays at Baylor, he'll be pretty darn good to put it simply.

WR Devontre Stricklin (6-3, 180) - Midway HS

Midway beat Killeen 49-22. Devontre had four catches for 114 yards including a 95 yard score.

LB/RB Clay Johnston (6-2, 200) - Wylie HS

Wylie beat Snyder 40-10. Clay had a couple key plays in the big win for Wylie.

RB JaMycal Hasty (5-8, 185) - Longview HS

JaMycal is still out with an injury.

CB Jordan Tolbert (5-11, 160) - Ridge Point HS

Jordan is still out with an ACL injury.

OT Sam Tecklenburg (6-3, 260) - Plano HS

Sam Tecklenburg is a beast, simply put. But Plano didn't play this week. I was just pointing out a fact.

ATH Tony Nicholson (5-10, 170) - South Grand Prairie HS

South Grand Prairie beat Mansfield 28-7.

ATH Jameson Houston (6-0, 180) - St. Michael's Catholic

SMC beat Brownsville St. Joseph 52-12. Jameson had six catches for 97 yards and a score, and also took a kickoff 90 yards for a score.

P/K Drew Galitz (5-11, 180) - Rowlett HS

Rowlett lost to Rockwall, 48-21. Galitz didn't attempt any field goals and miss, but he did kick two extra points. Some other kicker hit the other one.

ATH J.W. Ketchum (5-11, 200) - Lamar HS

ALERT! CODE SIC EM! WE HAVE A NEW COMMITMENT WITH A LAST NAME THAT WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE SOME PUNS OUT OF.

That's right, J.W. Ketchum is a Baylor Bear commit. Mark wrote an excellent piece here if you want more information regarding the newbie. He plays QB at Lamar and his actual last name is Ketchum III... and we all know what "The Third" quarterbacks do at Baylor. Just sayin'.

Ketchum was only 3-6 in Friday's demolishing of Westbury, 56-2, but he got 54 yards out of those passes and a touchdown. He also took the ball three times for 104 yards (that's 34.7 YPR. Goodness...) and two scores.

2016 COMMIT RESULTS:

RB Kameron Martin (5-10, 170) - Port Arthur Memorial HS

Port Arthur did not play this week.

QB Zach Smith (6-4, 200) - Grandview HS

ONCE AGAIN THE ZEBRAS SCORE A LOT OF POINTS AND LOSE. THEY'D FIT RIGHT IN AS A BIG 12 TEAM. Grandview lost to Glen Rose 65-47. Zach was 30-38 for 421 yards, 3 touchdowns and a pick.

OT Patrick Hudson (6-5, 325) - Silsbee HS

Hey, ODB-er. Yeah, you. Guess what? This guy was committed to Texas A&M. One night, Art Briles came to him in a vision. A bright light shone as Patrick was unable to make anything out but a faded figure emerging from a seemingly endless pathway of blinding luminescence. "Patrick!" TGCAB bellowed in his godly voice. "YES" Patrick answered, unsure as to how to react or who he was being summoned by. "You have made a mistake," Briles' deep voice echoed. "These are not the plans I have for you, my son." "W-what should I do?" trembled Patrick. "Go, do what your heart tells you is right. I have faith your conscience will lead you to turntness." Patrick awoke the next morning, attended a Baylor football camp, de-committed from Texas A&M and made his promise to play football at THE Baylor University.

CB KeShawn Somerville (5-10, 170) - Hendrickson HS

Hendrickson got shot down by Round Rock, 49-7.

WR Tren'Davian Dickson (6-1, 178) Navasota HS

So, Navasota is pretty good at putting up points. They beat Furr HS 85-0. Eighty. Five. To. Zero.

I'm nicknaming Tren'Davian "TD". He is a wide receiver and it's basically his first name abbreviated. It's awesome. It's punny.

TD had four catches for 52 yards and a score.
