Baylor Football Commits Recap - 10/11

Keeping up with Baylor's 2015 and 2016 commits on the high school gridiron.

CONSTANT CROOTIN'.

So we beat TCU in a fight to the death. I chose not to go to this game.

2015 COMMIT RESULTS:

QB/WR Chad President (6-3, 195) - Temple HS

Temple beat Pflugerville Connally by a crushing score of 63-7. Chad was 8-19 for 158 yards, with one touchdown and one INT. The Prez also ran the ball seven times for 101 yards.

ATH Blake Lynch (6-3, 195) - Gilmer HS

Gilmer beat Melissa 63-0.  Blake had four carries for 28 yards and a score, and caught three passes for 37 yards and another score. Blake was invited to play in the Army All-American game this week. Pretty cool.

WR Devontre Stricklin (6-3, 180) - Midway HS

Midway beat Shoemaker 44-6. There aren't any stats up from this game that I can find, but I know Devontre had at least a couple big catches, one for 35 yards and one for 14.

LB/RB Clay Johnston (6-2, 200) - Wylie HS

Wylie did not play this week.

RB JaMycal Hasty (5-8, 185) - Longview HS

Longview destroyed their rival Marshall by a score of 56-13. JaMycal is still out with an injury.

CB Jordan Tolbert (5-11, 160) - Ridge Point HS

Jordan is still out with an ACL injury. Ridge point shut out Santa Fe 56-0.

S Montrel Wilson (6-2, 195) - Fossil Ridge HS

Fossil Ridge lost 43-3 to Guyer. Montel had 17 tackles, 10 solo and 7 assisted. He also had a TFL and an interception.

OT Sam Tecklenburg (6-3, 260) - Plano HS

So, I didn't get to go to this game after all, but Tecklenburg (who can basically do anything) caught two passes for 85 yards and a TD. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up playing TE at Baylor, but he's not a giant height-wise so he may stick at lineman. I'm not sure.

ATH Tony Nicholson (5-10, 170) - South Grand Prairie HS

SGP beat rival Grand Prairie by a score of 24-0. Tony threw one 16 yard touchdown pass and caught a pass for 8 yards.

ATH Jameson Houston (6-0, 180) - St. Michael's Catholic

SMC lost to Antonian Prep, 42-7. I can't find much from this game but I'll keep my eyes open.

P/K Drew Galitz (5-11, 180) - Rowlett HS

Remember last week when we were all whining about Callahan and praying Galitz would get here ASAP? No need now, but Drew is still pretty good. Rowlett did not play this week.

Oh, and Galitz did this.

2016 COMMIT RESULTS:

RB Kameron Martin (5-10, 170) - Port Arthur Memorial HS

Port Arthur beat Baytown Sterling 28-24. Kam took the ball 13 times for 53 yards and two scores.

QB Zach Smith (6-4, 200) - Grandview HS

OH ZEBRAS. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ZEBRAS. Once again, Grandview scores a lot of points and loses. West beat the Zebras 44-41. Zach was 18-32 for 284 yards and two touchdowns. Get used to hearing his name. This kid is gonna do awesome things at Baylor.

OT Patrick Hudson (6-5, 325) - Silsbee HS

The only update I have on Patrick is that he still is committed to Baylor, and yes, he did decommit from a team that claims to run this state when it hasn't beaten any of the following since 2011: Texas/TCU/Baylor/Texas Tech.

Oh, and he visited this weekend and had a great time with Zach Smith, per their twitter accounts:

CB KeShawn Somerville (5-10, 170) - Hendrickson HS

Hendrickson lost a bit of a shootout to Stony Point, 38-35. I can't find a ton on this game, other than that Keshawn (might've?) suffered an injury.

WR Tren'Davian Dickson (6-1, 178) Navasota HS

You ready for this? Navasota beat Houston Sterling 87-12. EIGHTY. FREAKING. SEVEN. Tren'Davian had four catches for 210 yards (thats 52.5 yards per catch. YEAH.) and FOUR TOUCHDOWNS. MY MIND IS MELTING READING THIS RECAP. HOW IN THE WHAT I DON'T EVEN KNOW POINTSPLOSION.

CB Eric Cuffee (5-11, 190) - Waco HS

Hutto took down Waco, 34-3. A bad night defensively as a whole for Waco.

NOTE: Mesquite Horn senior WR Trey Taulton was found dead in his sleep yesterday morning. I don't want to go into much research on this story, obviously, but we're all good people here in the ODB community. Keep Trey's family in your prayers.
