Baylor Football Recruiting Notes: November 2013

The Bears are flying high atop the Big 12 Conference at the time of this writing and have both a strong 2014 class and a strong start to the 2015 class, as well.

Changing things up this month with the burgeoning 2015 class now deserving its own major section. 2014 is still probably the biggest concern for our coaching staff at this point, but 2015 is taking off!

DE Solomon Thomas (11/18): Baylor back in it, apparently.  He's now on the Wish List.

DT Zaycoven Henderson (11/11): Baylor made his final 3.

WR/DB Davion Hall (11/8): Named an Army All-American.  Did NOT take his planned visit to Alabama this weekend.  Still expected to enroll at Baylor in January.

WR K.D. Cannon (11/5): He's solid.

OL Jovan Pruitt (11/1): The Arkansas commit took an official visit to Waco for the Iowa State game and posted the a picture with his father (I'm guessing) on twitter. It's unclear whether Baylor is still a player for a sixth OL in this class.

CB Nick Watkins (11/1): Committed to Notre Dame today.

RECRUITING FOCUS:

It's hard to say where Baylor is focusing right now as far as uncommitted prospects. With our top targets in the secondary, probably our area of biggest remaining need, off the board to other schools, we look to be in a transitional period while the football season ramps up. Also, the confirmation that we probably won't take a QB in this class muddies the water a bit, since we now have a spot open we might not have anticipated before.

I believe strongly that most of the recruiting attention we will spend right now is focused on two things: 1) keeping our 2014 class together, as a whole, and 2) laying the groundwork for 2015. With Baylor's strong start to this season, we could be slowing things down a bit to see if we can pull an A&M in 2012 by capitalizing on our momentum and turning a few heads. We'll just have to see. I think we have about 3 spots left in this class, at this moment.
