Baylor just flipped 3-star Guard Maurice Porter from Texas Tech.Big recruiting win for the Bears!!!

Miles' request in the last post proved somewhat prophetic, as Baylor's Scout site (BearsIllustrated.com) is reporting that 3/4* OG Maurice Porter has changed his commitment to the Baylor Bears. As a 4* OG with a 92 ranking, Porter is actually ranked higher by 247Sports than Rami Hammad, the recruit he ostensibly replaces in Baylor's class.
Teammate to another Baylor commit in OG Darius Moore, Porter is one that the Baylor staff targeted long ago and hoped to get before he decided to commit to the Red Raiders. Now that Hammad is gone and Savage has decided that he wants one of the worst songs in history drilled into his head five thousand times a game for the next two years, Baylor's recent run at Porter became even more important. Getting him to switch helps secure the future of our offensive line, even if it doesn't do all that much to alleviate our needs this coming season. It's asking a lot of a true freshman to come right in and play on the interior line, so we probably shouldn't expect that to happen.
At something like 6' 6", 295 pounds (or bigger, possibly), Porter looks to have ideal size for a tackle but will probably start his career on the inside. Call it the reverse Cyril Richardson, if you will. It's possible, though, that he starts outside and allows Baylor to move someone like Troy Baker in, but that's pure speculation on my part. Take a look at Porter's HUDL video and let me know what you think. According to the profile I linked above, he has offers from Oregon, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M in addition to those from Tech and obviously Baylor.
This is a huge win for the 2013 class that needed one right about now. Welcome to Baylor, Maurice!
