We know for sure at this point that there are three official visitors on campus this weekend with a fourth possible. Kolton Shindelar, as expected, did not visit this weekend, meaning Baylor appears to be out of his recruitment. The three confirmed to be there:
K/P Chris Callahan -- Baylor commit
Callahan committed to Baylor about 8 days ago after receiving an offer to grayshirt for the 2013 academic year. Whether that is still the plan is unknown at this point, both to me and probably the Baylor staff, since the availability of scholarship slots won't be determined until this recruiting class is officially signed. Pushing Callahan into the 2014 class not only helps keep open a spot this year, it also makes sure that Callahan's eligibility will go to the highest possible use; Baylor loses PK Aaron Jones after this coming season and will need someone capable of stepping right in. Callahan's visit is more to confirm things for him than anything else. He has the visit, after all, so why not take it?
JUCO DT Terell Brooks -- former Baylor commit, now considering Baylor, KSU, and Miami
Getting Brooks on campus for his official this weekend was huge, and I am hopeful we will use that visit to bring him back into the fold of our 2013 class. Brooks will likely see immediate playing time next season, possibly in a starting role, and is one of the most important recruits we have left in play. That's why I included him in the priorities post this week, and it's why we wanted him to come in for a weekend where more of the focus is typically on next year (the weekend of the first official Junior Day).
ATH Micah Thomas -- new on the scene, status of gangsta lean unknown
Probably ticketed for a spot in the defensive secondary in college, the 6-1, 180-pound Thomas played QB for North Shore this year and is a relative unknown in Baylor recruiting circles. I wouldn't read too much into his history as a QB; like Terrence Singleton last season, Thomas is unlikely to play the position in college. Holding offers from Utah and Air Force and having visited each the last two weeks, I'm not sure where Baylor fits into his potential recruitment. We have offered, though.
I've been scouring the twitterverse the last few days to try to figure out who else might be coming in this weekend, but it's especially difficult to do so with all of the 2014 guys on campus today. One name that did pop up is that of Navasota CB/WR Austin Collins, whose recruitment thus far has not matched his prodigious high school production. Collins is on the radar now because of the following tweet, wherein he seems to be saying he's not only in Waco today, but may have received an offer from non other than Art Briles himself.
Just talked to the head coach of Baylor he said that he wants me

Reading it again, I'm going to guess he's not actually in Waco and talked to Briles on the phone. Still, he appears to have been offered by Briles and may be joining our class imminently.
Collins' HUDL profile is private, so the team highlights of Navasota from Youtube will have to suffice. Check out his stats from this season and tell me what YOU think happened in his recruitment. Grades were reportedly an issue early on...

Baylor's first Junior Day of the 2014 class began at 1 PM today and will end in almost exactly an hour. Out of respect for the subscription pages, I haven't posted their confirmed visitor lists from that day. As soon as they give the go-ahead, I will post what I can. I'm not here to steal their work.
