This is just a short update about a prospect confirmed to be coming in this weekend for an official visit to see Baylor take on Oklahoma State. His name is Dimarya Mixon, and he is a DE/DT (probably DT in college) from West Mesquite HS in Texas. Until a few weeks ago -- maybe even days, I'm not 100% sure-- Mixon was committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils as part of their 2013 high school class. When he reopened his commitment, Baylor was rumored to be in the hunt along with West Virginia, where he visited in September, OU, the same, and Missouri. I didn't pay much attention to him at first since we were so focused on JUCO prospects to fill our holes on the defensive interior, but today's news from both Rivals and 247Sports that Oklahoma informed Mixon that they no longer had room for him in their class made his choosing the Bears much more likely.
Now, I try as hard as I can in these updates not to get your hopes up too much with any individual recruit. There's simply no way to know unless a recruit is actually quoted what a 17 or 18-year-old football player is thinking. I can say, however, that the quotes from him about Baylor are quite good, and he is extremely excited about visiting this weekend. If Baylor can put on a good show for the 3* defensive lineman, it sounds like we've got as good a chance as any. Here are his vitals:
