Baylor QB Bryce Petty out with possible concussion

With around 7:00 to go in the third quarter, Baylor QB Bryce Petty went down after a vicious hit from Texas Tech LB Sam Equavoen. He will not return to this game.

I don't have a lot for you other than what is listed above.  Eguavoen was flagged on the play in question for a helmet-to-helmet hit on a QB, and Petty left the game immediately after that to be replaced by Seth Russell.  The coaching/training staff then took Petty into the lockerroom for a short time before he reemerged without his helmet.  It seems pretty obvious that he will not play for the remainder of this game.

It seems pretty likely that our training staff was worried about a concussion following the hit, but as the commentators noted during the game, it's a good sign that Petty returned to the sideline and looked pretty good.  We'll have to watch for any official word from the University, and it will be worth watching how the rest of the game plays out with Russell at the helm.

I will update this thread with any additional news as it becomes available.
