Happy Thanksgiving, and a Schedule Note

Happy Thanksgiving Week, everybody. The holiday later this week means somewhat of an altered schedule for everything. I'm planning on getting the Big 12 Stats post out today if at all possible, and plan on the Advanced Stats Preview hitting tomorrow sometime. Additionally, I'll try and get the podcast edited and posted hopefully sometime before the Selection Committee gives us their latest reasoning for keeping us at #7. Unless something amazing happens tonight, it's likely we won't have a second podcast this week to talk about the rankings and preview Saturday's game.

We'll definitely have more going up than just that, but I figured I'd let you know what I was thinking for some of the regularly scheduled posts we do each week. We'll probably throw up an Open Thread for the TCU-Texas game on Thursday if folks want it.

Have a very happy Thanksgiving! Now back to your regularly scheduled post.

Let's Talk about Hate Weeks

Hey sportsfans, Mark Seymour here to talk to you about Hate Weeks for just a moment.  Stated simply: if you're looking for a place to talk about how much you hate Texas Tech, their fans, or their team, and you want some kind of guidance or official support in that endeavor, you've come to the wrong place.  ODB does not and will not participate in so-called Hate Weeks.  Others might in order to get their fans riled up or excited about the upcoming game, and that's their choice.  We don't.  I don't see the point in it, nor do I want to waste anyone's time.  Let's talk Baylor Football, something we all dearly love.

The first two games were a sign of things to come for the Red Raiders. Tech struggled against both Central Arkansas and UTEP, beating each team by only one score. The rest of the season has been dismal for Tech with wins against only Iowa State and Kansas, and the only other close game being against West Virginia at home. The low point of the season is undoubtedly the 82-27 destruction at the hands of TCU. Tech comes into the week off of a 34-31 win against Iowa State and look to end the season on a two-game winning streak. While they can't attain bowl eligibility this season, beating Baylor would go a long way towards soothing the wounds suffered this season. On the neutral site at Jerry World, this game is absolutely Teas Tech's bowl game.

Davis Webb hasn't played since suffering an ankle injury against TCU back at the end of October. Since then, true freshman Patrick Mahomes has been at the helm of the Texas Tech offense. Kingsbury had hinted that both QBs were completely healthy for last week's game against Iowa State, but Kingsbury opted to go with Mahomes exclusively. We'll keep you updated on the Red Raiders' QB status. I like that sports-reference tracks the passing attempt by the punter. It's too bad that it fell incomplete. I left that in there for the lulz.

I don't have a ton to say about the running backs. Deandre Washington is coming off a career day against Iowa State, in which he rushed 18 times for 181 yards. Granted, it was against one of the two worst rush defenses in the Big 12. 72 yards came on a touchdown run; another 44 of those yards came on a fake punt that was snapped directly to him.

Kingsbury's version of the Air Raid certainly loves to spread it around, but Jakeem Grant and Bradley Marquez are the favorite targets. That being said, 7 receivers have receptions numbering in the double digits, and nearly 8 receivers in triple digit yardage. Our secondary and linebackers will be very busy in coverage, make no mistake.

IT'S QUESTION TIME!

FIRST: Do you have any questions about Texas Tech that we can either answer or have answered for you?
SECOND: Predict the uniform combination for Saturday's matchup.
THIRD: If your prediction is Chrometrooper, what does the team wear next week (given the fact that chrome helmets have to be sent off to be repaired)?
FOURTH: Give me your best reaction gif to the Tech uniform of your choice.
FIFTH: What's your favorite Thanksgiving food? If unable to limit to one, a power ranking is fine.
