The Seymour clan is headed south here in a few minutes to attend this evening’s game, and we will be joined by a first-time attendee (my dad), so if you see us, please feel free to say hello! With that in mind, let’s get right to it.

WEATHER FORECAST: Partly cloudy, high of 91°, winds SE at 8 mph (Wunderground puts game time temp at 90°)

Weather Report:

It’s September in Texas, so it’s going to be hot. Get and stay hydrated. Start now if you haven’t already. The humidity is only going to be around 35-40%, so that’s not terrible, but it’s still going to be hot and relatively still.

Game Notes/Thoughts:

I’m going to keep this relatively limited since Baylor is expected to (and should) absolutely destroy Texas Southern today. A couple of things worth noting from this week’s depth chart (which should be taken with a grain of salt since we play a lot of guys and move people around): 1) looks like Jacob Gall has secured the center position, prompting XNJ to move into a rotation at RG with Micah Mazzccua; 2) Matt Jones may be back this week since he’s listed in an OR with Ashton Logan at the JACK position; 3) Gavin Byers is listed first at RT with Khalil Keith; and 4) Isaiah Hankins is officially the starter at kicker over John Mayers, something we knew from last week but that surprised virtually all of us. Everything else should be pretty similar.

As for the game itself, obviously I think we’re all looking for the same thing: for the offense to take the next step in terms of explosiveness and big plays. I shudder to think of how surly our fans are going to be otherwise. The only issue there is that we probably won’t see much of the playbook, so it will likely have to be Baylor just blowing Texas Southern away with the mundane stuff. It’s possible, certainly.

I think Travis put 58-0 out there on Twitter as his prediction, but I am always hesitant to predict shutouts given our history. That being said:

My Prediction: Baylor 52, Texas Southern 10.
