Despite the fact that our offense misfired in the red zone and through most of the second half, Baylor's football team showed up to play today in a big way, knocking off the #23 Oklahoma State Cowboys in the home finale of the 2012 season. That victory came only an hour or so after the men's basketball team wrapped up a huge win against the defending national champion Kentucky Wildcats in Kentucky. Lache Seastrunk had what was probably the play of the day to put Baylor up 41-27 with around 3 minutes left in the game after pulling his hamstring at the 45 yard line AND STILL SCORING THE TOUCHDOWN.
We'll talk more in the coming days about the problems that plagued Baylor's offense in the red zone, but right now, we should take solace in the Bears' improbable final month of the season to go from 3-4 to 7-5. We needed 2 wins in the last 3 games to get bowl eligibility, so we just took all 3, including wins over the #1 team in the country (Kansas State) and another ranked opponent today in the Cowboys. Any questions that might have existed about Baylor's resolve have been answered. Any doubts you may have had about whether we could continue building on 2011 should be gone. At one point in this season, 7-5 was an impossible dream. Now it is reality.
