Two relatively noteworthy, yet expected, pieces of news came down today for the Baylor Bears as they prepare to welcome the Lamar Cardinals to McLane Stadium on Saturday. We'll take the good news first:
Shawn Oakman and Orion Stewart Are Back
Fresh off one-game suspensions that saw them miss Baylor's opener last week against SMU, Art Briles confirmed today that starting defensive end Shawn Oakman and safety Orion Stewart will return for Saturday's game and resume their previous roles:
Briles says DE Shawn Oakman and S Orion Stewart will be back in starting lineup this weekend. #SicEm

Expected, as I said, but also good to hear considering how much is expected of both this season. Two starters return from suspension and one will remain out due to injury as Baylor opens its 2015 home slate.
Taylor Young to Miss Lamar, May Return for Rice
In somewhat less happy, but at least slightly encouraging, news, starting OLB Taylor Young will definitely miss Saturday's game against Lamar before hopefully returning next week against Rice:
Baylor LB Taylor Young wearing a black practice jersey but working out. Briles sounded optimistic he could return vs. Rice.

"Optimistic" is less encouraging than it could be, but still better than it might have been. In his absence, expect that Aiavion Edwards will get the start.
Pooh Stricklin is Hurt, Apparently
Baylor freshman WR Pooh Stricklin walked out with right arm in protective sling. Not sure type of injury. Redshirting this season.

Yeah, that's all there really is to that one. He's redshirting this year, so we didn't need him to play, anyway. You hate seeing guys get hurt, clearly, but this is about as good as it gets from that perspective. Best of luck in your recovery, Pooh!
