The Sailor Bear helmets that debuted in 2018 to rave reviews may be becoming a Homecoming tradition. The Bears did not don these spectacular hats last year, Aranda’s first, but did so in 2019 and will do so again on Saturday, making that 3 of the last 4 years. I will note that the 2018 version was white with a green stripe, which is slightly less awesome than the green but still awesome. Here’s the announcement for this week:

To say that we here at ODB love these lids is an understatement. Sailor Bear was one of the major inspirations for our original and redone logos for the site and one of the things I absolutely insisted on when we we were working on this place 10 years ago. I recall pushing for a Sailor Bear helmet in the pre-season 2018 and probably before that. Suffice to say we could not love them more. The only thing we wish is that Baylor would also release the green Sailor Bear hoodie that has graced the basketball realm a few times but that remains tightly under wraps to date.
