Halftime in Lawrence: Baylor leads Kansas 52-7

LaQuan McGowan caught his second TD, Baylor's offense put up 400+ yards again, and after an opening drive that saw Kansas pick up a 3rd and 17 before scoring their lone TD, the defense dominated with 3 turnovers and a return TD. Life is good.

I believe I can appropriately sum up the first half of this game in the following bullet points:

  • Corey Coleman is the best WR in America (7 catches for 108 yards and 2 TDs, #s 12 and 13 on the season).
  • After that opening drive, the defense gave up a grand total of 59 yards and created 3 turnovers, one of which was returned for a TD. Ryan Willis is getting absolutely destroyed now, too.  Baylor started bringing in defensive backups with about 3:00 to go in the second quarter.
  • THICK. HOMIE. QUAN. (LaQuan McGowan).

  • Shock Linwood has 13 carries for 135 yards and 1 TD.

I didn't even say anything about Seth Russell in there.  He's been ok, I think, not great.  He's made a couple of extremely aggressive throws that could have backfired on him, but haven't.  He's 18/27 for 246 yards and 3 TDs, and I'm guessing we won't see much of him in the second half after the first drive or so.
