The news today: Matt Rhule is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the Carolina Panthers. While most of us had our sights squarely set on the Giants being the leader in Rhule’s clubhouse, Pete Thamel and others reporting this morning that it is the Panthers that will win the Matt Rhule sweepstakes.

Others on Twitter, including Ian Rapaport, are confirming that the deal is being finalized. I certainly hope that Rhule got the chance to tell his players before this news broke, but given the speed with which this news broke, I have to wonder whether he did.
Once completely final, all eyes will be on who Mack Rhoades sets his sights on to be the next head coach of the Baylor Bears. The program is on the upswing, but with less than a month until National Signing day (and a week until the dead period ends), Rhoades and the next head coach will have their work cut out for them. Some are already speculating:
Baylor is already prepared for a search and has the $ to take a big swing, but promoting Joey McGuire to HC is a real possibility. Bears players I've spoken with absolutely love him.
