If you were impressed by Coach Rhule bolstering his #TexasTies by adding former Bears David Wetzel and Shawn Bell to his coaching staff over the last few days, get ready for another shocker — SicEm365 is reporting that Baylor will now hire current Cedar Hill HC Joey McGuire. That will give the Bears 3 former Texas HS football coaches on staff from the DFW, Austin, and San Antonio areas, respectively. Under McGuire, Cedar Hill has consistently produced some of the best teams in the state with some of the best talent, winning 5A State Championships in 2006, 2013, and 2014.
It should be noted that UT reportedly chased McGuire to join their staff either last year or the year before and were turned down because of McGuire’s desire to coach his son. Well, his son graduates in May, and we are the beneficiaries.
Here’s a few of the reactions so far:
The hiring of Joey McGuire by Baylor is really big news for Baylor. They now have a solid recruiter on that staff.

Seriously tho I don't think some people realize just what a dang power move it is to reel in a guy like Joey McGuire

Terrific move by #Baylor HC Matt Rhule to bring in Cedar Hill HC Joey McGuire. #NotreDame QB commit Avery Davis played for him. Hmm...

(We offered Avery Davis yesterday, and Notre Dame just lost their OC, so ...)
Cedar Hill HC Joey McGuire is heading to #Baylor per @SicEm365. Would be a HUGE hire for them.

And ... it’s more or less confirmed somewhere else now.
Hearing that Joey McGuire told his Cedar Hill team he was leaving for Baylor a few minutes ago. #txhsfb
