Art Briles up to #11 in SportingNews Top 128 CFB Coaches

Baylor Head Coach Art Briles is now the King of Texas coaching according to SportingNews' latest yearly ranking.

Ronald Martinez

Noted hater of all things speed and possible Prince of Coaching Darkness Nick Saban still tops SportingNews' latest list of the best coaches in the college game, but after a year that saw his Baylor Bears win the Big 12 Conference for the first time in program history, Art Briles has now ascended to the top of the Texas coaching pyramid at the #11 spot nation-wide.  #11 is good for second in the Big 12, one spot ahead of Dr. Manhattan (Bill Snyder), and seven behind one of our neighbors to the north in Bob Stoops.  Other notables on the list, which can now definitely be used to troll every Longhorn and Aggie in sight (or reach of email):

Big 12 Coaches:

Stoops -- #4
Briles -- #11
Snyder -- #12
Strong -- #15
Gundy -- #17
Patterson -- #29
Rhoades -- #58
Kingsbury -- #59
Holgorsen -- #64
Weis -- #72 (how is he not 100+?)

Other Texas Coaches:

Leach -- #19 (he still counts!)
Sumlin -- #26 (behind Briles AND Strong? That troll game is strong, SN.)
