Baylor Football Recruiting Notes: December 2013

November was a quiet month for the Bears on the recruiting trail probably more notable for who we didn't lose than who we gained. December could be much, much different.

Changing things up this month with the burgeoning 2015 class now deserving its own major section. 2014 is still probably the biggest concern for our coaching staff at this point, but 2015 is taking off!

Baylor is bringing in a HUGE group of prospects for both 2014 and 2015 to the game Saturday.  The names we're hearing bandied about are impressive, to say the least.  When/if I see confirmation of those names, I'll post them here.  If you see something I don't, please share in the comments!

2014 Recruiting:

Monday, December 16 starts a new quiet period lasting until the second week in January.  We've never had this period before in recruiting.  As a result of the rule change, every staff in America is out on the road.  I'll try to pen down the in-home visits we've done so far.

One notable visit was to WR/S Davion Hall's house.

Worth noting that he tagged Feuerbacher, who has already signed his LOI and FAA and will be Hall's roommate when they get here in January.

JUCO DE Demetrius Hill (12/13): Weather kept him out of Waco this past weekend (for the Texas game).  Is now visiting officially this coming weekend.

WR K.D. Cannon (12/4): Will be there Saturday.

2015 Recruiting:

RB Ronald Jones II (12/23): Baylor offered last week.  I missed it.  His HUDL videos are pretty incredible.

CB Jordan Tolbert (12/23): Baylor offered the Houston commit.

QB Jarrett Stidham (12/6): Rivals is reporting that he will visit for Texas.

DB Kris Boyd (12/6): Rivals is reporting that he will visit for Texas.

DE James Lockhart (12/6): Rivals is reporting that he will visit for Texas.

I'm going to put together a list of the players we have playing in the various All-American games at some point.  The obvious names -- Hall, Cannon -- will be there.  Others have been recognized, though.

RECRUITING FOCUS: 2015

With 24 recruits committed as part of the 2014 class as of this moment and spots extremely limited, we're probably either done or extremely close to it.  Like maybe 1 spot remaining close.  That probably closes the book, barring something crazy happening or a spot opening up due to unforeseen attrition or a decommit, on the 2014 class.

I believe strongly that most of the recruiting attention we will spend right now is focused on two things: 1) keeping our 2014 class together, as a whole, and 2) laying the groundwork for 2015. With Baylor's strong start to this season, we could be slowing things down a bit to see if we can pull an A&M in 2012 by capitalizing on our momentum and turning a few heads. We'll just have to see. I think we have about 3 spots left in this class, at this moment.
