Our latest long, Baylor Nation-al nightmare is over as Bruce Feldman of The Athletic is reporting on Twitter that Baylor is “working to finalize” a game with Houston next week in Waco. The last time the two teams played was nearly 25 years ago in the last season of the Southwest Conference, 1995.

Baylor, as you know, postponed its game that had been scheduled for today against La Tech earlier this week due to an outbreak there. Houston’s game against Memphis next weekend was postponed for similar reasons earlier today, creating a natural fit. Baylor had spent much of the week trying to schedule a game for next week—which had been an open date on our schedule—after the La Tech game was postponed and unlikely to be rescheduled due to conflicts.
UPDATE: There are now several people, including David Smoak, reporting that Baylor and UofH will play next Saturday, 9/19, with the exact time to be determined. I’m sure that’s a TV issue that will need to be resolved in the coming hours/days.
I’ve confirmed report by @BruceFeldmanCFB, @UHCougarFB will play at @BUFootball on Saturday, September 19th, kick time to be determined. I’ve also learned this will be one of a three games between the two programs, including a home and home to be decided after this one. #Baylor

Smoak and others, including Ross Dellenger, are also reporting that next week’s game is part of a larger deal to play three games, including a home-and-home in coming years. So it would seem the price to get UofH on board on short notice was giving them a home-and-home later. I’ll say it now: regardless how this game turns out, that price is worth it.
As part of #Baylor-#Houston's impromptu matchup for next weekend, the two schools have agreed to play a future home-and-home, source tells @SINow.

The *plan* is to play the home-and-home over the next six to eight years.
UPDATE: Time and network set as stated in the title.
