It Gets Worse: RB JaMycal Hasty Likely Out Several Weeks

The sophomore suffered a possible MCL strain during tonight’s game.

NCAA Football: Liberty at Baylor Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

In the absence of junior Terence Williams, sophomore JaMycal Hasty got the start for Baylor tonight and looked to be the Bears’ likely bellcow through non-conference play. Then he went down in the second quarter with a “lower extremity injury” and missed the rest of the game. Afterwards, Rhule indicated during his post-game press conference that Hasty has a “possible MCL sprain” and will miss the next couple of weeks, possibly more.

With Hasty now joining Williams on the shelf for the near future, Baylor will lean hard on a trio of freshmen — John Lovett, walk-on Dru Dixon, and Trestan Ebner — to fill the void. You may also see Wyatt Schrepfer if the situation allows or even Blake Lynch, although it looks like he’s going to be needed on defense.

If any more information comes out about this, I’ll update the post as appropriate.
