Bye Week #2 -- The Morning After -- Rankings, Links, Notes, Tweets

Baylor plays football again in just six days.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

So, this past week was a little rough for Baylor fans and denizens of ODB.  After announcing last Sunday that Peter was going to help with management of the blog in a more official capacity, I wasn't around much this weekend for completely unrelated reasons.  Judging from my email and twitter messages, people didn't appreciate that much.  Combine that with the fact that it was a bye week and thus we had no preparation to do, and things kinda died down around here over the last couple of days.

We've got the powerhouse Kansas Jayhawks coming this week for Baylor's Homecoming and the first attempt to Stripe the Stadium at McLane, so the lolly-gagging ends now!  Get your game faces on, ODBers, and get ready for football again.

Since we didn't have a game yesterday, this Morning After post will look a little different from the rest.  I thought about just making up stats for a hypothetical game and using those to make Players of the Game and Quick Thoughts for the bye week, but that would take more work than I'm willing to do this morning.  Instead, let's get right to my rankings.

Mark Seymour's Top 10:

1. Mississippi St. Bulldogs
2. Oregon Ducks
3. Alabama Crimson Tide
4. Florida State Seminoles
5. TCU Horned Frogs
6. Kansas State Wildcats
7. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
8. Michigan State Spartans
9. Baylor Bears
10. Ole Miss Rebels

There's a lot going on here, and I know that.  As much as I despise Patterson and his antics and think that TCU legitimately ran the score up yesterday on Tech in the second half for "style points" or to send some kind of schoolyard message, I very nearly put them in the Top 4 teams in the country right now.  I eventually settled on MSU, Oregon, Bama, and FSU, though I'm not at all convinced on FSU. I'm punishing Ole Miss for losing to a LSU Tigers team that isn't all that good, even at LSU, and think that Kansas State has done enough to be included just after the Top 5.

CFB Week 10 Rankings

... Are already starting to come out.  I'll do a fully-fledged post about this when the AP drops this afternoon, but Baylor is now 12th in the Coaches Poll behind TCU (10) and KSU (11), which I obviously think is too low for both of them.

Avid movie watchers often binge on horror flicks during the month of October. That is hardly necessary for Baylor’s offensive linemen, though, as the West Virginia game tape offers all the frightful scenes they could ever want — and then some.
